Back to Basics with the Paleo Diet
Paleo diet is about eating foods that our ancestor’s ate back then. If I was born on Stone-age era, most probably I’ll be much familiar with Paleo o Paleolithic Diet. Paleo diet means we can eat anything we could hunt examples: meat, fish, fruits, nuts, leafy greens, veggies, and seeds. How does Paleo Diet work? Paleo not faileo is another form of “diet.” I know, it sounds like sham, but I would stand ten thousand times that this diet is legit. You see, tens of thousands of years ago, before Trader Joe’s and Healthy Choice meals arrived; our ancient ancestors thrived as hunter-gatherers. Although it’s been a long time, our genetics haven’t changed that much since then. Homo Sapiens back then were tall, muscular, agile, athletic, and incredibly versatile while the Homo Sapiens of today are (if not all) some are overweight, out of shape, stressed out, unhappy, tired, lonely, lack of sleep, and frown to many diseases.
Agriculture! Innovation! Thousands of years ago human discovered farming, the agricultural revolution took off, and people had advanced from hunters to farmers. They settled down, and formed societies, and human race progressed up until today. Innovation plays an important role in human race’s living standard. But the problem is, their bodies never adjusted properly eating all the grains from the farm. Back then people walk a thousand miles just to find something that they could eat. Today, some human spent most of their time sitting and chatting, and money is all they ever need to buy something to eat. For some, life has been easier after agricultural revolution along with this their diet had shifted. Instead of loading up on meat, veggies and seasonal fruits, they’ve become a species “dependent on grains- bread, pasta, rice, corn, and so on. Six to eleven servings of grain a day, and people will continue to get fatter and fatter as days go by. The Paleo Diet is an effort to go back to eating how we’re biologically designed to eat, allowing us to tap into our genetic potential and start living healthier immediately. The Paleo Diet completely eradicates sugar. Unless you’re getting your sugar from a fruit we eat. Sugar causes an energy spike and crash in your system, turns to fat unless it’s used immediately, and wreaks all kind of chaos on our bodies.
So, no grains, no sugar, no processed foods that Paleo. Many studies have shown that an incredible number of diseases and lifestyle issues can be reversed with these three simple changes. Take a look at this time magazine article on cancer patients who switched to a zero-sugar diet and saw positive results.
Energy where can you get this if you practice paleo?
Human bodies are designed to operate on a lower amount of carbohydrates than what they’re used to eating, so less carbs isn’t really a big deal. When there is an absence of carbs, human bodies will take stored and burn that for energy in a process called katogenesis. Less carb, less gluecose in human system, means your body will have to burn your fats as your fuel source of energy. Are Carbs Really Bad? NO!!! Every discourse around you has a purpose. Carbs still serve a purpose in your diet, but in all honesty they’re not essential. Just prefer to get your carbs from veggies, sweet potatoes, fruits. Why? Those foods are naturally occurring in the wild and don’t need to be processed in any way (like grains) in order to be consumed. Fantastic thing about veggies and fruits is that you can eat as many of them as you like and hold on to the promise that you’ll never get fat. They’re heathy and calorie light, six serving of broccoli has 180 calories only and 36 grams of carbs, Isn’t nice? Compared to single serving of pasta that has 200 calories and 42 grams of carbs.
So, what are you waiting for? If you wanted to be sexy and fit, let go of your faileo diet instead move into Paleo Diet. Let’s get back to basic for a smarter and healthier way of living. Eat healthy, stay fit, that’s what paleo is all about!!!
